I remember a time when my wife and I were so broke we went to my mom’s house for dinner because it was our only choice!
Tonight however we went to a place I had heard about from friends… and you know what? We had an ubeliveable dinner that costs us $180 just for the two of us.
What is about to follow isn’t meant to brag it is meant to help you understand the significance of a $180 meal out with my loving wife. (So please take this in the spirit I’m trying to deliver it in.)
Now we do some pretty extravagant dinners out with friends. (When we moved to San Diego, we spent $6,000 on a weekend entertaining our friends that helped us move here.)
When we got married we spent about $15,000 entertaining our friends for the week leading up to our wedding.
While we were in Tahitti last year we easily spent $500 to $700 a night on meals. (A night!)
And, I travel a lot and end up spending a grip of cash on crazy business dinners, like a few recent trips to Washington where we spent $600 to $800 on meals out, in just groups of 4 or 6.
Because of silliness like this I think I have seen a lot of incredible food, but… tonight was very special.
Tonight was just me and my wife with no plans or worries… we just had fun and listened to the music, drank wine and ate lots of little items on the menu. As network marketers we know that lots of little things add up so you think we would have been more alert, but we are in a position to just “not worry about it”, so we didn’t.
All and all the meal was fantastic! But compared to what happened on the drive home it was a token, compared to a sea of gold.
Tonight was very moving for me because of a simple statement my wife made on the way home.
She said, “I’m proud of you for working so hard and making our life so much better”.
You see she remembers when we were tight on cash, when we had roommates and when we couldn’t afford to fix my old beat up Saturn.
Things have certainly changed.
And all it took was the work of unlocking the value secretly hidden in these 2 principles.
- Getting into something new, because of what it would teach me, not because of the promise of money. (Thanks Robert Kyosaki).
- Getting committed to my success. Committed in the sense of: I’m going to do this or someone will find me lifeless body trying to make it happen. (Thanks George S. Clason and T. Harv Eker)
If you want to change your life you can. You only need to really wrap you mind and actions around these 2 thoughts and you can have anything you want.
The internet is making home based network marketing businesses happen a lot faster than the traditional way so get out there and go get yours. You don’t want to be the person who wakes up one day and suddenly realizes that 10 years has passed you by and you’re still working for some jerk who is trying to figure out how to do business without paying you.
You can do this. Just focus on what matters and cut the rest of the unimportant stuff out.
If you’re worried about missing out, don’t worry the unimportant stuff will still be there when you have achieved your goal.
But, you’ll be better off because you will be able to have all the silly things in life you love without being worried about how much they cost (Even a carefree $180 dinner with the one you love).
